About
This site is centered around outdoor grilling and taking it to new heights. I am certainly not limiting the recipes and articles that you will find here for only the grill. In fact, I am actually a little weary of labeling this as a grilling or BBQ site. You will also find sauces and sides to accompany the grilled recipes here and from time to time I may even introduce old family favorites that have nothing to do with the grill like my grandmothers Wild Rice casserole.
I started this site to help me keep track of my own recipes and what I was doing with them. For the most part I’d make something really great and not be able to duplicate it again or it would be forgotten about altogether. It’s also a great way to learn from my own mistakes. Not everything I develop makes its way onto this site but by documenting what I have done I can go back and eventually correct the problem or decide to scrap it al together. I also hope that future generations of my own family may find this site as a resource. I know that I would have loved it if my mother would have at least written down some of the family recipes that she had done while I was growing up. Publishing my recipes to the web has also helped me become better and keeps pushing my own skills to greater heights.
This site is intended to merely be a guide and not an exact science. Just because I use a grill to make something does not mean you have to. I don’t follow conventional “food rules” and neither should you. A lot of recipes that you find here may call for the “juice of one lime” or “salt to taste” as an example. I encourage you to always taste as you cook and to make the recipes into your own by correcting the spices and seasonings for your own palette. I view cooking as an art and a vehicle for adventure, and am always looking for something new and exciting.
We believe in using whole foods, no preservatives or artificial ingredients. For the most part this is true but occasionally I will reference a condiment, bread or something that just makes more sense to use an already prepared ingredient.
